Effects of Chemical Treatments on Microflora Species on Eggshell and Hatchability of Broiler Eggs

This study was conducted to determine the effects of three disinfectants on microbes and hatchabilty broiler eggs. One hundred ninety-two medium-sided hatchable eggs were divided into four groups with replications sixteen each. Each group assigned each following treatments; untreated, NaOCl, H2O2 KMnO4:HCHO combination (1:2). The incubated for 21 days. Data analyzed using one-way analysis variance in a completely randomized design. bacteria isolated Escherichia coli (225-390cfu/ml), Pseudomonas aeruginosa (78-139cfu/ml), Staphylococcus aureus Proteus mirabilis (210-268cfu/ml), Salmonella spp (258-313cfu/ml) fungi (63-101cfu/ml). Significant (P<0.05) variation observed population micrfloral species egg shell. pre-dominant recovered from all samples before treatment. Effects microorganisms varied significantly KMnO4 + formaldehyde having highest (57.36) effect spp. Similar NaOCI S. proteus mirabilis, E. coli, P. fungi. Eggs treated had least significant incubation weight losses value (14.63), while (17.00%). results further showed that hatchability, chick hatchinh early embryonic mortality not affected by treatments unlike late which (P<0.05). Although, is commonly used hatchery, this experiment compared favourably as hatching without adversely affecting potentials.
